Hi! I’m a 23-year-old psychology graduate who’s been living in Prague for the past four years. Originally from the U.S. with Slovak roots, I’m passionate about relationship and individual counseling. I’m staying in Prague to pursue my Master’s, so if you’re seeking someone who understands cultural nuances and need a contact, I’m here for you. In my free time, I like to paint, dance and explore fashion.
We created safe space as just exactly that, a safe space for students and expats living in Prague. Although I don’t experience as much culture shock as others, I still found it difficult to navigate mental health resources in Prague, and I found it a shame as I love this city so much and plan on building a life here. This space is built by people like you, for people like you, and we’re so excited to work together to create a welcoming collective.

Hi everyone! My name is Callahan and I have been living in Prague for the last three years working towards earning my bachelors in Psychology. After that, I plan to stay in Prague and work towards my masters. I am passionate about helping others and hope to go into the clinical psych field for counseling with children and adolescents. Outside of studying I enjoy thrifting, going to galleries and museums, and spending time outside. My decision to move to Prague was a little bit spontaneous and I went into it not knowing anyone. Having to navigate a foreign country with no immediate support was incredibly difficult and isolating. Our team’s shared experiences pulled us to create something to alleviate this stress for other expats and students. We hope that Safe Space Prague can be just that and serve as an easy and accessible resource for all who need it.

When I first came to Prague, I felt very lonely. I didn’t even have a friend to talk to about it. I remember it was spring, life outside was full of energy, but I was at home watching TV shows because I didn’t even feel like going out. Emigration takes a lot of energy, and in psychology, it’s considered a serious stress. It’s hard to fully relax in a foreign country. Without my friends, I don’t know how I would have made it. That’s when I realized how important it is to have friends and mental health support, especially when you’re far from home. That’s why I’m happy I can now help other immigrants find good specialists and feel better!

Hello everyone, my name is Simoni and I’m from Cyprus/Mexico, born in Portugal. I moved to the Czech Republic from Brazil, so in addition to these being very different countries in terms of culture and values, it was also my first time living alone. I’m very interested in cognitive and child psychology, so if you ever want to gush over cartoons and old 2000s memorabilia you can always message me! I also like learning new languages and about different cultures, especially here in Prague where there are so many expats and international students.

Hello everyone! I’m Toni Janine, a psychology graduate from the U.S. When I moved to Prague, I felt isolated and overwhelmed. I dealt with loneliness, anxiety, culture shock and depression all while trying to find my way in a new city. Also finding feathers on my eggs was an interesting surprise! This experience drove me and a group of women to create Safe Space Prague. We built this platform to be the supportive community we needed when we arrived. It’s where expats and locals can find connections, mental health resources, and community. I’m passionate about neuropsychology, classic rock and vintage clothing. In my future I specifically want to help children and adults with neurological disorders. My long term goal is to help reduce the long wait times often associated with accessing care in this field. Our project stands on beliefs in kindness, connection, and making mental health support accessible. Safe Space Prague was created by women who care deeply about these issues. We’re building this together, for everyone.
